? The objectives and contents of the research project:
The objectives of the proposed project is to investigate the comprehensive technical measures for increasing irrigation water using efficiency in large irrigation districts in China, to import advance technology for sustainable development of water-saving irrigation, to enhance capacity building in efficient irrigation. The main research contents include: water and salt balance under the condition of water saving irrigation practice, analysis on dynamic change of water application, drainage and soil salts, effects of canal lining and on farm water-saving practices, impacts on environment of water saving technology and practices, the comprehensive techniques and measures for efficient irrigation under sustainable development condition, compare and analysis of irrigation methods and technologies applied in the large irrigation districts in China and USA.

? Study the evolution of agricultural ecological environment
? Study the soil salt distribution characteristics and the spatial variability of soil water-salt migration under water-saving irrigation conditions
? Study the Irrigation water use efficiency and Crop water production efficiency, soil water-salt distribution and its effect of ecological environment after adopting water-saving measures
? Study the main technical measures of improving the level of water saving irrigation
Conduct experiments in Hetao Irrigation District
